Operational Architecture

As mentioned in Section [*] above, the application will operate in one of two distinct modes: the application running locally on the same host as the RTP endpoint (see Figure [*] below) or the application running as an active MITM (see Figure [*] below). It is not intended that the two SteganRTP applications which are communicating be operating in the same mode. Thus, a mixed-mode operation such as is described in Figure [*] below is entirely possible.

It is important to note that the SteganRTP application is only required to be bridging or forwarding the RTP stream considered outbound from the closer RTP endpoint destined for the more remote RTP endpoint. Conversely, the application is only required to be able to observe the inbound RTP stream flowing in the other direction as it does not need to invasively modify any packets from the inbound stream.
